Why We Built This Site

Virginia records are not kept in one county database. The Essex County Sheriff's Office maintains reports made by its deputies, while the Circuit and General District Court clerks keep filings, docket events, orders, and dispositions. Regional custody records may sit with the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center in Saluda. Compiled state history comes from the Virginia Department of State Police, Criminal Justice Information Services Division, Central Criminal Records Exchange.
